I recently was sent the book "Filipina Safari" written by Rod Masters. One evening as I was lying on my couch, I thought I would read a few pages from the book, that was a mistake!It was already 2300 hours, thats 11:00 P.M. for those of you that were not in the military, after reading the first chapter I could not put the book down. I laughed until tears were running down my cheeks and finished at 0100 hours (1:00 A.M.)If you want to feel a man's frustration with today's American Women and the determenation of one man's quest for happiness half-way around the world you must read this book.In the near future I am going to call Mr. Masters and have him help me plan my own Phillipine Safari!Gene L.Corona, CA
This is not for a woman to read it is man reading, and if you are a sensitive man like the one how rating this book a one star, then this book is not for you. Rod gives you the details of his adventure to the Philippines where he found his wife. Starts of with the reason he started his Qwest and takes you through his adventure. I could see myslef doing everything Rod did and hopefully I will and be sucessful in the end. It is humorous, sometimes has you hanging on the edge of your seat thinking that could happen to you on your adventure. I love this book and plan to keep if for future reference and motivation.
If you are looking for a poorly written, at times unintelligble, book that spews sexism, racism and homophobia, then this is the book for you! If you are a priviledged, ignorant, white male over 55, who expects to be waited on by those less white than you, less male than you, or less heterosexual than you, you might enjoy it, but I doubt it. This book was so horrifyingly bad, I couldn't finish it, and threw it in the trash. Frankly, I should have thrown it away the minute I realized what the plot was. Poor, poor divorced old white guy in middle America wants a Stepford wife to cater to his every whim (in other words, a mommy who will have sex with him) - can't find it in the US, so he heads to the Phillippines to buy himself a wife. PATHETIC! Happy ending and everything. However, if this man thinks this woman truly loves him, he is completely delusional. If I could give this "book" zero stars I would. Oh, and Mr. Masters, if you choose to write a self published book again, I suggest you get a better editor and a proofreader. It's obvious you had neither.
