I feel like I just went on an emotional roller coaster. Please adhere to the triggers the author mentions because I did have to put the book down a few times because they can be intense. With that said it didn’t take me long to pick the book back up and continue reading, the storyline is getting intense and the book is so well written that I fear losing sleep tonight because I need the next book. Please read the book in the order outline it feeds more into the story.

The one character that I found to be the most interesting in this book, and really, in this whole series is Jace. He wasn't dissatisfied with the Status Quo, but ended up being enslaved by Elias Ivers. In this book, we see that after only 3 weeks of being Elias' slave, he has already started losing himself and being twisted to enjoy cruelty as a mirror to his new master.Noah and Khaz both have to deal with Khaz's decision to turn Noah in the last book, and that leads to all kinds of conflict.

Iver's and his pet Jace's and Khaz and Noah caught in a horrible game of cat and mouse! This book is full of broken trust, rape, hatred, Love and loss, remembering and feeling used and lied to. R. Phoenix takes her characters and you on a rollercoaster ride from Hell. Will anyone be left intact or will everything important be lost forever? You have to read to find out. Yes R. Phoenix leaves us with another brutal cliffhanger and I'm dying to know more!

I truly enjoyed this series. It was dark with harsh cruelty, showed the good and bad of these creatures and had elements of love and compassion. I wanted more conclusions with the love battles but I'm greedy that way. I'm hoping for more to the series but was pleased with it all the same

What seemed to start out as a touching follow up to khaz and Noah's previous story took a turn for the sad and twisted when Elias Ivers took his payment in flesh and pain.. Can't wait to see what happens next for these two...

Great way to continue the story. Well written story filled with plenty of emotion! I can't for the next book!

In this installment of Ripples in the Status Quo Noah learns his fate and, at first, it seems like Khaz may have made the best and right choice for them both. But, with his choice he also had to offer Mays something in return for not delivering Noah back to him and unfortunately, Mays is not the only one he has to worry about.•••Elias Ivers seems to have no bounds or limitations as to what he asks or demands of those at his mercy. Now that Noah is a vampire and can no longer be bought, Elias has other ways to get what he wants and even though he made a promise to Khaz that one night would settle a debt I’m not confident that it will be over that quickly. As the night lingers on and Noah’s memory gains strength, his hate and anger grows as well.•••And let’s talk about Noah… my heart continues to break for him. He is brutally hurt and forced to endure pain at the hands of supes who are out to prove they can dominate him just because they can. The revelations in his mind have never been more clear as they are now which only intensifies his hate for vampires including his sire …especially his sire.•••Lies and deceit run rampant where power and dominance fight to stay in charge. Noah has a lot to figure out and understand and I hope that Khaz has seen the error of his ways with lying and will be truthful with him from now on but, ultimately - he is using him, as well, so time will tell - I guess.•••The creativity and imagination the author has used to build this world is captivating and really pulls the reader in from start to finish. I like the author’s voice in how she relays the story in a way that you can feel the tension and underlying fear as you read. The content is dark and delicious if you like that sort of thing. Granted it won’t be for everyone, but if you like to read with tingles going up your spine this is the series that will do it.

About the Author

Ishion Hutchinson was born in Port Antonio, Jamaica. His poetry collection Far District (2010) won the PEN/Joyce Osterweil Award, and House of Lords and Commons (2016) won the National Book Critics Circle Award in Poetry. Other honors include a Whiting Writers’ Award, the Glenna Luschei Award from Prairie Schooner journal, and the Academy of American Poets’ Larry Levis Prize. He is an assistant professor of English at Cornell University.

For these poems, the author painstakingly assembled memories of places he has grown up, lived in, and traveled to, along with acerbic political and social observations and incredibly rich metaphor. "Don't get too hung up on the terms," as he says in "A March." I didn't untangle every phrase, but I found much of the book moving, and had to sit quietly for a while after the end. Most effective to me was a poem late in the book where Hutchinson softens his modernist style for a more prose-poem approach, "The Night Autobiographies of Leopold Dice."

This was quite a good collection of poems; a bit on the heavy side - definitely not light and fluffy, but extremely good.

Jim Hamm is perhaps the bowyer most responsible for the modern resurgence of self bow making. His Bows and Arrows of the Narive Americans was the first how-to manual for archers interested in recreating the bows of the first North Americans. His four-volume Traditional Bowyers Bible is indeed the Bible of traditional bow making, a collection of essays and how-to articles of some of the most knowledgeable and experienced bowyers in the country.This brief book (just 61 pages of large type that could have easily been squeezed into 40) is a very concise distillation of what Hamm has learned about wood selection, bow making, and shooting since he began making and a hunting with self bows. There’s some good advice for experienced bowyers, and enough information for a first timer, although the first timer would do well to read some of the available on line sources and forums to fill in the details.

I ordered this book because I thought it would serve as a good introductory guide as I begin to build archery bows. The contents do indeed look very helpful. My issue is with the book itself or perhaps rather Bois d’Arc Press. Many of the pages are uncut along the bottom. I must separate the pages by cutting along the bottom of the pages with a razor.. Kind of a pain before I can start reading what appears to be a very informative guide to building bows. So kudos to the author, but boo to the press.

Jim Hamm is a great bow maker, a clear writer, and has years of experience. If you make bows, you will want this book. if you are new to bow making, you will want this book. It's never more complicated than the basics. Jim knows the basics well and shares them well.

Excellent book that covers what you need to know and nothing else

To the point and a great read by Jim Hamm. the tools list should of included an outside caliper. Wish I knew about outside calipers from day one. All my bows broke until then . Thank you Jimm Hamm you are a living legend!

Great information for the traditional bowyer

I have read his first book and this just rehashes the same material in a shorter book. If you have the first book you don't need this one.

Matthew Lippman is Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and has taught criminal law and criminal procedure in the Department of Criminology, Law, and Justice for more than thirty years. He has also taught courses on civil liberties, law and society, and terrorism and teaches international criminal law at John Marshall Law School in Chicago. He earned a doctorate in political science from Northwestern University and a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School, and is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar. He has been voted by the graduating seniors at UIC to receive the Silver Circle Award for outstanding teaching on six separate occasions and has also received the UIC Flame Award from the University of Illinois Alumni Association, as well as the Excellence in Teaching Award, Teaching Recognition (Portfolio) Award, Honors College Fellow of the Year Award and HOPE Award. The university chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma, the criminal justice honors society, named him “criminal justice professor of the year” on three occasions. In 2008, he was recognized as College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Master Teacher. He was honored by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, which named him Commencement Marshal at the May 2012 graduation. .Professor Lippman is author of one hundred articles, two coauthored books and one single authored books. These publications focus on criminal law and criminal procedure, international human rights, and comparative law. This book is PACKED with cases and proper legal terminology. It was used in my Admnistration of Justice classes in college and was definitely a tool I'd reccomend to a teacher or to a diligent student who wants a nice textbook to add to their catalog. It really helped me form opinions about certain cases as well as formulate proper questions as to constitutional rights as well as law, infringement of other persons rights, and much more. Some of the terminology however will not be used in police field work, this is more for lawyer types and prospective detectives.Edit: after a semester of use, it's still in really good shape unlike most paperback books! I was a little rough with it but I'm sure people take better care of textbooks than I might. Added pictures after semester ended. Definitely has good resale value!

I rented this book from Amazon and I really loved it. I had to use this book for school and I love how much information is in this book. The cases that are used in here relates to the whole chapter and it is very interesting. Criminal Justice is my passion so I most definitely would recommend.

Chapter 9 is repeated twice!! And the first chapter 9 has a lot of chapter 8 in it! Edit to add: its missing 50 pages in between chapter 9 and 10!

If you're looking at this book for casual reading I would advise you to keep looking, but this is a pretty good book for class. I'm currently using it in my criminal law (CJA 354) class as the required reading. With the class, we read chapters according to the syllabus, but without the class this would be a hefty read as there are almost 600 pages of reading material.This is a book I'll be taking with me to law school as it does contain some pretty helpful material and it is well written. The author lists cases and then discusses those cases, but the main focus of the book are many concepts to law. For example, the book goes into great detail about constitutional limitations, actus rea (criminal acts) and mens rea (criminal intent), justification and defense excuses, crimes against public order and morality, etc.One thing that I'm not crazy about is that there is a section in Appendix A that discusses what needs to go into a court citation (e.g. Jones v. United States, 308 F.2D), but it does not go into great detail and is actually kind of vague. I'm a visual guy and it would have been nice if a visual example and breakdown were included, but I guess that's where the internet comes in handy.Buy this book used and you'll save a bundle of cash. I did and my book looks brand new. One thing I will say, though, that the seller forgot to highlight, this is not the latest edition of this book and will most likely not match up with your school's syllabus (depending on which version your school's using). This is the 2006 version and my school is using the 2010 version, so buyer beware when making your purchase.

Easy to follow book. Useful information. Information was not all dry and boring facts and statistics.

I loved this book, was bigger than i thought it would be lol, but honestly it helped a lot. It has some things highlighted and other little notes, that actually helped besides reading the chapter on your own.

Even the illustrations are garden-variety basic.Yet these books have sold millions and they work.The One Minute Manager Balances Work and Life presents the usual contrived encounter between the One Minute Manager and another of the usual subjects, this time the Professor. Somewhat off the beaten path, this time it is the One Minute Manager Himself who is desperately in need. This book was originally published under the title "The One Minute Manager Gets Fit." An even better title would have been "The One Minute Manager Takes Care of Himself." The entire volume emphasizes the importance of taking of oneself so that effectiveness in all other areas of life will be at a maximum.There are four components presented here to insure a fit, healthy life: autonomy, connectedness, perspective and tone. Autonomy pertains to getting control of one's personal schedule so that there is enough time for self-care. Connectedness refers to having a strong, interpersonal support network to keep on track with proper fitness, nutrition, etc. Perspective pertains to how well one views his own life. Tone refers to the actual physical condition and health of a person's body, mind and emotions.This title should be at the top of the list for "One Minute" fans. The format is the same as all the other books in the series and the principles are life-changing. For some persons, this book may even be life-saving!

I got these for my son. He got a lot out of the series and enjoyed the easy reading style that presented methods that work well in the real world.

I found this an easy read. It was motivational in that it helped me see that you have to make time for yourself. You have to be healthy and rested before you can put your best efforts out there for everyone to see. It was a short book, and was a quick read . It helped me, and I would recommend it to anyone that wants to improve their business outlook.

The book is interesting to read, but it is hard to trust a book that claims to be history but contains glaring and easily-researched errors, and almost no footnotes. Two errors: the author speaks of a character living near the Virginia-West Virginia border in the 1850s, but West Virginia did not exist until 1863. There was no state border and Harpers Ferry was in Virginia, not West Virginia. Then he says Senator Blanche Bruce died in 1883, when Bruce did not die until 1898. Sloppy. Nevertheless, the characters are interesting and the stories well worth reading for more depth in Black American history.

Excellent book. These are great stories. Author did and excellent job of bring this book to life. We need more books like!!!

A well-written work, Shomari Wills uses solid research and great storytelling to uncover the hidden truth of remarkable African American entrepreneurs that accumulated wealth while navigating treacherous social, political, psychological barriers, physical violence and personal shortcomings. The story of black wealth and all the ways that white racism fights against it is not taught in schools. The story of Indians owning slaves and fighting with the Confederacy to maintain slavery and battle against U.S. intentions to steal Indian lands is not taught in schools. Wills reveals truths that are not commonly known when among African American historians (Madame C.J. Walker was not actually a millionaire, nor as financially successful as her mentor, for example, or that Greenwood was rebuilt after it was destroyed by the white racist mobs. This is s fascinating read. Wills forced a more nuanced understanding of the role of black wealth in dismantling white supremacy in a capitalist society.

First of all, shame on the American school system for not teaching black people ALL about their history. Noooo we as black people only learned about slavery and some minor things that only represent a very small percentage of our heritage. Why am I 43 and just now learning about these African American millionaires from the 1800's? I guess our part and contribution in American history is not important. Well thank God for books like this. I am not even finished with it, but had to review it already. I was telling my 21 yr old daughter about it. She's excited to read it when I'm finished. I will order one for my son in another state. Shame on the American school system only teaching HIStory (HIS STORY)

I loved the details and events expressed in this book. It documented major moves in history. It was both inspiring and enlightening. A must read for all African- Americans who are in pursuit of accomplishing their own dreams.

Excellent book. I would highly recommend it. It show the importance of having self confidence and being willing to adapt to changing circumstances. The book is well written to capture the interest of the reader. It also demonstrates how far we have come over the last 150 years for Americans and 180 years for the British colonies. It is highly recommended on my list of books to read. it would be of value to persons of all races. Demonstrates how unkind and barbaric racism is, in a very engaging read.

This book tells the stories of six entrepreneurs born into slavery and Jim Crow but became millionaires despite their black identity. Not only did they create great wealth for themselves, they pioneered industries and built cities during their lifetime.Here are my top five takeaways from the book:1. Creating wealth is not a special talent, it is a discipline, the discipline to save money - Cash they say is king. When opportunities knock (and they always do), be sure to bring plenty of it to the door. So, always have liquid cash in bank!2. Purpose precedes fortune – their mission in the business world was simple. To empower as many people of color as they can with the opportunities they’ve been given. So, discover THE WHY behind your pursuit of wealth!3. The family unit is where true wealth starts and sadly ends – they all either attained greater levels of financial success or lost it all largely because of the choice of their spouses. So, choose wisely!4. Crises are wealth in disguise – if they had any special talent that will be this, understanding - that crises are cyclic, they come and go, and leave wealth making opportunities behind. So, embrace your current crisis!5. If cash is king, succession is the key to the kingdom – while their legacy today is clear, unfortunately the wealth they created did not outlive any one of them. The fortitude and grit needed to create the wealth, became waned or too little to continue the fight needed to preserve it for the next generation. So, think generationally!

Excellent book of history....every black person should know about their ancestors profiled in this writing. It shows why and how the wealth of blacks today are on top....while illuminating their negligence of not investing back into our businesses, community infrastructure and institution building. If Opra, and a dozen other black elite wealthy folk pooled together even just one-eighth of their money to invest in financial and learning institutions established for black people, the wealth gap would diminish within one generation.
